Good News!

Fukis.jp, the website you’re currently looking at, is my personal website. That means that I personally own it and host it to my own discretion. I have the freedom to do whatever I want to it. That means, unlike many other platforms I have used, I cannot be suddenly deplatformed from it if my behaviour inconveniences the people running it.

I’ve bought plenty of domains before, and a good portion for my personal usage specifically, but I’ve always wanted a Japanese domain in particular. Everything before that were usual American top-level domains and other strange new domains, such as .lol, .pw, .xyz, and so on. If you knew me personally, you would know that I had always been quite into Japanese culture even as a kid. I could even qualify as a weeaboo, that is, if I was into anime. Even nowadays, now that I’ve gotten over my old obsessions, I situate myself in a realm very close to Japanese culture at heart.

I’ve had visions of buying a .jp domain for around 2 years, dating back to 2024, if not further. However, I couldn’t really figure out what would qualify that was close enough to me, and I made up a lot of strange names figuring out what my .jp domain could look like. Safe to say, I’m quite glad in the end I adopted the common sense to buy one with the name ‘Fuki’ in it, even if I had to append a ‘s’ to the name.

I got this domain in late 2025, and it’s safe to say that, besides some personal stuff I set up through it, I still had no idea until lately what quite to do with the website. I always wanted to set up a personal website on it, and I thought that reviving an older personal website I had would suffice, but that didn’t work at all. Lately however, the spaces I’ve been in have made me interested in the idea of starting my own blog with my own website, and after all this is the best service to my own self-interest anyway, especially with all of the introspection and thoughts I’ve been having lately, that I doubt I can simply keep contained to myself.

Not too long ago, in line with that, I got the idea of creating my own website with PHP, to serve as a segue for personal hosting, but also to serve as my own blog, if simply programmed at that. Right until today, I had gone along with this plan like a mouse could fall for cheese. In reality though, as much as I can program, and wish to learn more about it in the future, I simply dislike coding and all of the stressful debugging that comes with doing it. So, safe to say, coding has always been exhausting for me and I prolonged the finish to this website for a long time for that reason. From the brief experience I had today, I can say that was the right original gut feeling to have, because while it was much simpler to assemble than I thought, it was sort of confusing and exhausting, and I almost felt like giving up. Now, I did try using other CMSes before, and none of them worked, which forced me into the original plan of having to develop the website on my own terms, which I thought preserved some positives for me in the end anyway, as I hinted briefly at before in this post. However, I hadn’t given much thought as to just using WordPress for the website, although WordPress is quite popular and widely acclaimed for its intuitive and simplistic design and usage. If you’ve seen my Twitter, you can see I’ve been designing for this website recently. So, and we’ll get back to that in just a second, I tried WordPress, and it worked right after I unzipped it. I was exhilarated! I searched up online how to make (classical) themes for WordPress, and just like that I retrofitted the theme I was making for the PHP website right into the one for WordPress.

On the content of this blog, well, I’m still not quite sure what it will be composed of. I personally believe that it will encompass many things eventually to reflect my diverse array of interests, and it most certainly won’t be limited to being ‘just a blog’ either. I know it will be of great service to all the ramblings I eventually want to post, of which nowhere else I can quite figure where to store, and if I do, they’re inconvenient places to write in. Perhaps reflection on current events would be nice, but well, I’m never up to date on that sort of stuff, since I’m essentially a hermit, and even with the people I know they don’t really care enough to update me on the news, which is a tool of sensationalism more than anything nowadays anyway. There’s a lot I can talk about, and a lot of time I have to talk about this in turn. I’ve had blogs before, but never one that co-constitutes my own personal website on my own personal domain, and that almost certainly will incentivize me to use it more than the previous blogs, all nothing but slaves to the blogging websites they resided on. I can’t end this blog post on a very definite note, because that’d imply boundaries to this website, and boundaries to this website is not something I want to discuss! I am a boundless person, and if my website is boundless, it does naught but simply reflect that! I am sure that I will have, at least a decent time with everyone who decides to actively read this blog, and I hope you will visit this blog too, or at the very least check it out sometimes. You will be able to see my thoughts on my personal interests and everyday occurrences as well. Personally, I think that is a good thing.
