Decades and Weeks.
Originally posted: October 14, 2026 / Last modified: October 14, 2026Good morning, or night, or afternoon where-ever you are. Unfortunately, I’ve been b&’d from Twitter until the 18th because of some unsavoury comments I made about what should be done to communists, not comments all that serious, still comments rule-breaking enough that they threw me in Twitter prison.
The famed Russian revolutionary, Vladmir Lenin, his communist affilations unrelated here, once said, “there are decades where nothing happens, and there are weeks where decades happen.” I’ve certainly experienced such weeks many times before, but this week was not one of them. Nor was it any of the past weeks this month nor the month before this one.
I’ve had quite the trouble finding an outlet for my ennui (a fantastic word I found from the literary genius Baudelaire) recently. I find it hard to be comfortable when my brain’s processes are not, and dopamine can only work on a person for ever so long. I’ve decided to channel it in closely reading and scrutinizing the book Man, Economy and State, which, bless each and every single one of our hearts, is a few thousand pages long. So far I have relatively few quips with the book, although I’m not very far into it. In fact, it describes many things that should be quite self-evident, which sticks out greatly to me.
I checked out a website I had originally developed, which I used to frequent, and discovered that all of my admin powers were essentially abrogated from it because I transferred ownership of the website to someone else. Safe to say, while I was a little pissed finding out, I don’t really care, and I probably deserved it for being inactive on there anyway. I’m not quite sure if I wish to do or manage web projects all that much anymore. Currently, I host and manage a few websites for a few of my friends and that’s really it. Another thing that I’ve forgot to mention is that while I did want to eventually contribute to the website in question, the coding knowledge I had back in 2022-2024 was completely destroyed and lobotomized, and I’m not quite sure if it was as strong as I had originally assumed anyway. While I wish that they hopefully eventually get to the improvements I was planning, which I’m sure most of them already knew about and I won’t need to restate here, I simply can’t be arsed to care about the future of that website, especially considering how large it has gotten since I became inactive on it. In fact, just last night I checked the platform, and a lot of the content on it was, dare I say, surprisingly capitivating, although short. For a small website it became quite densely populated. Something I noticed on a lot of the channels is them noting that they don’t use AI, which is strange because, last time I heard, AI was banned on there (I was the person who implemented that rule too).
After finding this news out, I did some clean-up of my GitHub (which was also where I was able to totally confirm that I was kicked out from the website). I publicized one project I was working on from 4 years ago. I essentially deleted everything else, because I considered them all useless. I discovered tons of forks I had made from 2020, 2021, 2022, ectera. I had absolutely no reason to keep most of them. Who would’ve thunk of that!
Anyways, I do wish to dabble in programming and web projects and perhaps some old web recreations here and there soon enough, but I don’t plan on making them singular propietary hubs like I had in all of my previous projects. Instead, it’s more likely I would simply open-source it while only working on it on my own local server. With projects I did not host on genuine websites, this was usually the case, such as a Futaba Channel fork I had made around ~4 years ago. Speaking of which, I remember implementing massive nu-Futaba improvements to, but I accidentally deleted all of the source code to that update so it never came out and won’t in the future. Atleast Kokonotsuba, which has a lot of similar features and layout, is open-source now? Not sure. Anyways, in the past I had wanted to recreate the source code for Reddit from 2005 to 2007 on PHP (which is NOT an obselete language!!!!), and have it be open-sourced. I never did it, but the thought of it sprung up a few weeks ago. Surely the original idea was conjured out of frustration with being banned from Reddit — something which luckily, since last month, I no longer have to deal with, at the very least not for now. Another funny idea I had in 2024, the first time I kept getting banned from Reddit, is a website that would essentially be composed of sub-forums that are entirely self-managing and based on direct democracy, You can tell I had a much more liberal and egalitarian outlook on the world back then. Nowadays, I’d say instead, ‘founders have a right to rule’. Yes, even if the ‘founder’ of Reddit is a total douche. Luckily, we aren’t living under the Soviets, so nothing stops me from making an alternative to that awful platform, but I never really did do that. See my remark earlier about how retarded I got after 2023, heh.
Another idea I had at that time was USENET. Originally, I wanted to recreate USENET, most likely through a client. It seemed like a nice idea, but I never really went through with doing that, beyond some conceptual sketching. Later on, I got USENET, and while it was interesting to use for a while, I found it to be a mostly desolate wasteland littered with conservative greivances, racism, and once in a while a interesting non-political discussion. I just I wasn’t able to actively participate in any of the ‘non-political discussions’ though, and didn’t give much thought to the remaining political (or, in many cases, outright nonsensical) ones. One Sega console newsletter I had found, surprisingly, had one (1) active topic going, and it was a interesting one too as far as I remember, although I can’t recount what the actual topic was about. I just know it was something about either the Saturn or the Dreamcast.
It didn’t take me very long — say, maybe a week or so — to accept that USENET is dead and that it is buried in a grave. I did try many other Reddit alternatives, but they are also usually ghost towns confined to a few topics of its double-digit active userbase’s choosing.
So what can we say to end this blog post? I don’t know, really. I haven’t learned any significant lessons from these past few weeks and I never will. Have a decent day, I guess, and I will too. I’ll probably start writing in here more often, but don’t expect me to be very consistent.
